The other day I read about one of Canada’s Paralympic skiers, Mark Arendz, who said, “after good races, bad races, I seem to always have another race. So, I’ve kind of gotten used to or familiar with that idea of taking both the highs and the lows of different races, and then being able to go to the next one and say: ‘What does this race need? What is my focus for this race?’”.
What great questions, I thought! These questions are positive on many levels. After good days and bad days, one seems to always have another day. After good meetings and bad meetings, one seems to always have another meeting! After good conversations and bad conversations, one seems to always have another conversation.
So ask yourself, ‘What does this day need, or meeting need, or conversation need or project need?’ and ‘What is my focus for this day, meeting, conversation, project?’.
This curious mindset feels useful and solution-oriented. See if this approach gives you the success if gives to Mark Arendz.
